Power Vinyasa (90 min)
Power Vinyasa is a vigorous, enjoyable class held in a lightly heated studio (80F). The class is focused on deep even breathing and learning to relax, while fully inhabiting the body and experiencing the postures. It’s aimed at advancing the student towards a deep meditative state, increased concentration, flexibility and strength. All are welcome, modifications are offered for beginners. Advanced students have the opportunity to work on advanced postures, such as arm balances and back bends. The class ends with deep guided relaxation. Experience the difference – feel deeply relaxed and profoundly peaceful after completing this class!
Vinyasa Yoga
A very challenging Vinyasa Yoga class to people of all levels of Yoga experience, a practice rooted in the Yogic Arts. Every class is unique and carefully sequenced to allow the body to open and release conscious and the unconscious tensing and hold that leads to so much physical and mental stress. The lesson in the hard challenging class is to stay present, and very focused on and off the mat. How we learn to deal with the small microcosm of the yoga class will reflect our responses to the larger macrocosm, off the mat into the world. From this class you can expect to build balance, strength, flexibility and the intangible elements of grace, inner peace and well-being. Peace
Hatha Yoga
“Hatha” is a Sanskrit word, which means sun and moon. Hatha yoga helps one achieve balance from within using breath, movement and mindfulness. Based on asanas or physical poses, this traditional form of yoga helps balance mind, body, and spirit. This class starts with a breathing exercise or pranayama meditation that helps students find their quiet center and prepare for the somatics that follows. Ebb and flow links with the steady paced poses. Students are guided by description, visualization and being “in the moment.” The class ends with Savasana, personal time for deep relaxation. All levels are welcome! Bring an open mind and be prepared to enjoy an energizing and refreshing yoga experience!
Kali Yoga
Kali Yoga is a vigorous practice that challenges the body, quiets the mind and awakens the spirit. A Vinyasa practice, each posture flows into the next and is connected by the breath. Like a choreographed dance, the postures provide the platform by which we experience, and express the best of ourselves in every moment, in every breath. By tuning deeply into our inner experience, we find joy, bliss, truth and the sacred expressed as us.
This is a multi-level class, all are welcome. Prior experience and body flexibility are not necessary. You come beautifully equipped just as you are.
Kali Dance and Yoga Unleashed: Step into the Fire of Joy!
Have you considered what would happen if you truly let go, truly allowed your body to move freely, revealing it’s own story, it’s own yoga, it’s own dance, free of rules, free from outside expectations? This is Kali Dance and Yoga Unleashed. It is the guided practice of authentic movement, arising from within, moment by moment, bypassing the mind, moving, reacting and responding spontaneously, sorrows melting away from shear joy. Don’t miss this opportunity for bliss!
Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar yoga focuses on correct body alignment; the body thus develops in an anatomically correct way. It was Mr Iyengar who developed the use of props such as blocks, chairs, blankets, and straps to help the body move safely into the required positions and ranges of movement. Poses are held to let their effects soak into the body.
Iyengar yoga’s focus on correct anatomical alignment has wonderful therapeutic benefits. The practice can help eliminate aches and pains, improve posture, and create a sense of well-being and optimism (which might have something to do with your body being able to do things in its 50s and beyond that it couldn’t do in its 20s!)
Susan trained to teach Iyengar-style yoga with Joanne Carter and Carol Cook of Simply Yoga in Kingston, NJ, with whom she continues to study. She has also studied with Bobbi Goldin, Dean Lerner, and Kevin Gardner.
Integrative Yoga
Integrative Yoga focuses on the path of yoga as a healing journey that brings balance to the body and mind through an experiential awakening of spirit, our essential nature. The practice is adapted to the student so each individual can move into a more balanced (satvic) and positive emotional, mental and physical state of equanimity and self-awareness. By integrating the yogic tools of Asana, Mantra, Mudra, Pranayama & Kriya, Sankalpa, Meditation and Yoga Nidra the student may better manage anxiety, depression and other mood imbalances.
