Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan
Ongoing classes in the Yang Style Short Form 37 step Cheng Man Ch’ing form taught by Glenn Swann. Tai Chi Chuan is a wonderfully holistic practice, encompassing meditation, elements of Qigong, health-building exercise and martial arts. It is considered an “internal” martial art in that it emphasizes developing internal energy, or chi, rather than simply external strength. It is appropriate for all ages, and its health benefits include improved balance and reflexes, increased flexibility, stress reduction, and much more. In addition to the bare-hand form, students will progress to Saber (Dao) and Straight-sword (Jian) forms as well as push-hands practice.
Glenn Swann has studied Tai Chi since 1992, practicing the Yang 37 and 24 short forms, as well as Chen Style Old Frame, and Yang and Chen weapons, with a concentration of late in Chinese Historical Swordsmanship.
